What to Do If You Bought Hearing Aids Somewhere Else and Need Better Care

Patients with hearing aids from another provider can restore optimal performance through a comprehensive reprogramming and cleaning visit rather than purchasing new devices.

Maybe you moved to Midland and your old audiologist is now five hours away. Maybe you bought hearing aids locally but the follow-up appointments never materialized, leaving you cranking up the volume and hoping for the best. Whatever brought you here, you're not stuck, whether with underperforming devices or without a provider who actually shows up after you purchased your devices.

We hear this story consistently. Patients arrive with hearing aids that are genuinely good technology, just neglected. No one's checked the fit, updated the programming, or cleaned them properly in months, or sometimes even years. The fix is usually simpler than people expect.

Why People End Up Looking for a New Audiologist

It comes down to three situations, and none of them reflect badly on you.

Relocation is the most common. You retire to Texas, move closer to family, or follow a job transfer, and suddenly the person who fitted your devices is a full day's drive away. Phone troubleshooting only goes so far.

A bad original fit is another. If your hearing aids sound too sharp, if background noise feels overwhelming, or if they're uncomfortable after a few hours of wear, those are real problems that are fixable. But only if someone actually takes the time to address them.

Lack of follow-up care is the one that frustrates us most. Hearing aids aren't a one-and-done purchase. Your hearing shifts over time, devices need cleaning, and the programming that worked at your original fitting may not match where your hearing is today. A lot of clinics treat the sale as the finish line. We don't.

What a Real Hearing Aid Check-Up Looks Like

We call it the 90-Minute Performance Revamp, and it's how we start with nearly every patient who comes in wearing devices from another provider.

The visit covers everything in one sitting. We go through your history with the devices, look inside your ear canal, and clear out any wax buildup that's blocking sound. Then we run a full hearing evaluation, including testing how you hear in noisy environments, so we're working from your current hearing, not a year-old test from somewhere else.

From there, we clean the devices thoroughly, remove any trapped moisture, and reprogram them based on where your hearing stands right now and how you actually use them day to day. If your hearing aids connect to a smartphone app, we'll get that configured before you leave.

Most patients walk out surprised. Same devices. Totally different experience. They just needed someone paying attention.

Staying Covered After the First Visit

One good tune-up helps. Ongoing care is what keeps your hearing aids performing. That's the idea behind our Adoption Plan.

It starts with the Performance Revamp to get things back on track, then includes two preventative maintenance visits throughout the year, wax removal whenever you need it, and access to loaner devices if yours ever need to go in for repair. You won't be left without hearing support while you wait.

The plan covers hearing aids under four years old and is designed specifically for patients in your position, people who bought quality devices somewhere else and now want a local team that treats them with the same care as if we'd fitted them ourselves.

What Makes This Different From Just Walking In Somewhere

Not many practices around Midland are set up to take on patients wearing another provider's devices. It requires time, flexibility, and a willingness to invest in someone else's sale. We've built the Adoption Plan around exactly this scenario because we think your hearing matters regardless of where you bought your aids.

There's no pressure to replace your current devices either. If your hearing aids are under four years old and functioning mechanically, a proper cleaning and reprogramming can get them close to new again. We'll tell you honestly if we think you'd benefit from something different, but we're not going to push you toward new devices you don't need.

Ready to Get Your Hearing Back on Track

If your hearing aids aren't performing the way they used to, or if you simply haven't had a real check-in since you bought them, we'd love to help. Give us a call at (432) 689-2220 to schedule a Performance Revamp and find out whether the Adoption Plan is the right fit for your situation

You already invested in better hearing. You deserve a provider who sticks around to make sure you get it.
