Gloria Duarte

Hearing Aid Technician

Gloria was born in Hollister, CA, and lived in several Texas towns before settling down in Vinton, TX. She is a Canutillo High School graduate.

As our hearing aid technician, Gloria keeps busy by helping patients with their hearing aids, cleaning and checking their devices, and troubleshooting any connectivity issues. She also assists with a variety of office duties, including receiving packages and orders for both the office and patients’ orders and repairs; managing inventory and requesting supplies from vendors and manufacturers; answering phone calls and setting up appointments; and assisting with interpreting for our Spanish-speaking patients.

Gloria thoroughly enjoys being a part of the All About Hearing team because everyone works so well together and has fun making each other laugh. She particularly loves helping people, and as her role enables her to assist patients, it makes Gloria enjoy her position even more.

She notes she has worked in many different roles within an office setting, but her experience here has been her absolute favorite. Gloria finds it endearing how the team strives to help people live a better life with or without hearing aids.

Gloria has worked with numerous patients, but one patient stands out as her favorite personal success story. A patient was certain that their hearing aid was no longer any good. Gloria repaired the hearing aid without having to send it to the manufacturer. This made the patient incredibly happy and they even gave her a hug. This was one of the first times Gloria did a repair on her own with no assistance, and it totally made her day!

When Gloria isn’t working, she enjoys watching documentaries and/or horror movies with her husband as well as visiting with her family.

If you could have any fictional character as your best friend, who would it be and why?

Wade Wilson aka Deadpool. He is loyal, witty, funny, and very protective of the people he loves.

What's your guilty pleasure when it comes to music, movies, or TV shows?

That adrenaline of not knowing what’s going to happen is what it’s all about for me. So, for me, my guilty pleasure is any horror or drama movie.

If you were a flavor of ice cream, what would you be and why?

Strawberry, because I don’t have a bland personality, but I’m not over the top either.

If you could have any job in the world for one week, what would it be and why?

I would love to be a psychologist/therapist so that I could listen to and help people with their problems. Sometimes just being a good ear is all people need to feel better.

What's the weirdest food you've ever tried, and did you like it?

Crickets! They were not bad but definitely not something I will be putting in my kitchen pantry anytime soon.

If your life were a movie, what actor or actress would play you?

Salma Hayek. I love that she can portray any role whether it be serious, funny, and/or dramatic.

What's the most interesting place you've ever visited, and what made it memorable?

A little town called Old Mesilla in New Mexico. It is still a very Old West type of town and has the jail where Billy the Kid and his gang were kept for a few days. My husband and our sons enjoyed going to this little town because it felt like we went back in time whenever we went to visit. Plus, walking around town while eating ice cream with our boys is what made it so much fun.
