Android 10 for Hearing Aid Wearers

ReSound and Google have developed a new technology that now offers direct audio streaming to hearing aids from devices using the Android 10 mobile operating system, making life simpler for hearing aid users.

Many Apple iOS users have had access to this advanced feature since 2013. However, this is the first time that Android users have had access to it.

This is great news because it allows people with Android devices to take advantage of this feature while allowing them to keep their preferred device.

Although Android users have always been able to connect their ReSound hearing aids with their Android devices, this is the first time they can actually stream music and phone calls, thanks to innovative Bluetooth technology.

Those who have the latest ReSound LiNX Quattro Hearing Aids will be the first to access this incredible technology.

As an audiologist, I am very grateful for this technology. It is reassuring to know that people who struggle with their hearing will have an easier time answering phone calls and listening to music.

My patients have often mentioned that they would really enjoy technology like this. They can now listen to music and answer calls if they download or upgrade their ReSound Smart 3D app, provided their hearing aids and technology are compatible.

Instructions

How to be certain that your Android devices can connect with your Resound LiNX Quattro Hearing Aids

  1. Go to Google Play and download the ReSound Smart 3D app.
  2. Once the app has been downloaded, open it and click, “Get started.”
  3. Follow the on-screen instructions to connect your hearing aids to your cell phone.

After this, you will see one of three screens. If there are no warning icons, that means that your device has connected with your hearing aids and you can start to enjoy the new technology.

However, you might have to deal with two alternative scenarios.

#Settings Require Changing

You might be required to change your settings. You will see a red warning symbol next to “Direct Audio Streaming.” Select the “Direct Audio Streaming” option and the app will provide you with instructions on how to proceed.

If you see two warning icons on “Direct Audio Streaming” and “My ReSound,” then, unfortunately, your hearing device is not compatible.

Only some Android phones using the Android 10 operating system will be able to stream. Currently the Pixel 3’s & 4’s and Samsung Galaxy 9’s & 10’s use Android 10.

Your cell carrier can tell you if your model will get the updated operating system or if you’ll have to upgrade your device.

I hope this excellent technological advancement will allow everyone to be more efficient and enjoy their lives.
